E.Coli is a bacterium commonly found in the intestines of humans and other animals. It can cause harm to many people and other living things. Some strains of the disease can cause severe food poisoning, especially in the elderly and children. Recently, E.Coli was found in drinking water in Milford, NJ. 68 News stated that there was,“A notice from the Milford Water Department distributed Monday told customers to either boil their tap water before drinking it or buy bottled water until the problem is resolved”(68 News).” According to 68 News, the E.coli problem will be fixed in a matter of 30 days. To clarify, if anyone wanted to drink water that lives in Milford NJ, they will have to boil their water and filter it to get rid of any contaminants. 68 News says to stay clear of the E.Coli after its cleared you should

Have your “Runing  water faucets for 3-5 minutes to flush your service connection and interior plumbing with water from the service main, empty and clean your automatic ice makers and water chillers, drain and refill your hot water heater if the temperature is set below 113 degrees Fahrenheit, service connections with a water softener/cartridge filters should be run through a regeneration cycle or other procedures recommended by the manufacturer and lastly the water reservoirs in tall buildings should be drained and refilled.

On October 6th, 2017, Officials in Western Hunterdon County said, “The water is now safe to drink nearly a week after E. coli was found in one of the town’s wells.” For the residents of Milford township, it is finally safe to drink the water without boiling, or purifying it. Regardless, even though the water now may be safe, you should always be careful, take extra safety precautions to make sure the water that you drink is clean.
