Spooky Halloween Treats
October 30, 2020
Pumpkin spice and everything nice. Here are some treats that can make this fall extra special. Who doesn’t love the smell of freshly baked goods in the oven, especially on a crisp fall day? Halloween is just around the corner, and to get more treats than tricks, try out these delicious sweets!
“Boo Bark” is a unique Halloween treat which consists of milk, white chocolate, and leftover candy. Once the materials are gathered, line a large baking tray with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and set aside. Melt the milk chocolate and white chocolate separately on the stove or in a microwave, stirring every few minutes until completely melted and smooth. Pour the melted milk chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet and spread out into a large rectangle. Next, drizzle the white chocolate mixture on top, and decorate with candies of your choice! Allow the chocolate to completely set uncovered in the refrigerator for about 45 minutes. Once hardened, break into pieces to your desired size. This spooky treat is a great way to use your leftover candy and to get in the Halloween spirit!
For all the vegans who have a hard time finding recipes, the Maple Pecan Apple Crisp is for you! The ingredients are as simple as apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and maple syrup. It’s super easy, vegan, gluten-free, and soy-free.
Cobweb cupcakes: a must have this October! Begin by baking a batch of cupcakes, from a box or from scratch! Place the mini marshmallows in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave until melted. Next, place the marshmallow web on top of your cupcakes by spreading the melted marshmallow between your fingers. Lay the marshmallow strings on top of the frosting.
If you’re tired of all the candy, here is a healthy and easy recipe to try out this Halloween. With only two ingredients, a banana and a few chocolate chips, create a face on the fruit for a cute look. This banana ghost may just smile right back at you.
If apples are more your ally, try these silly apple bites! The ingredients you will need are two green apples (quartered), sunflower butter, 32 sunflower seeds, and 2–3 strawberries, sliced. Cut the middles out of each quarter of the apple to create a mouth. Don’t worry about perfection, as you are filling this gap with sunbutter anyway. Coat the inside of the cut gap with a filling of sunflower butter. Place 4 sunflower seeds on the top of the “mouth” for the teeth. Place 1 sliced strawberry inside the mouth for the tongue. These bite-sized snacks are a great idea for younger kids to have some fun in the kitchen!
Although Halloween may look different this year, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the spooktacular holiday. Enjoy these delicious treats with your friends and family!
