Watch The Moon

I noticed that there’s this general want to be the next big thing, or at least in me. Whether that be music, writing, acting, sports, really anything, we want to be the best. However, most of us have accepted that we’ll not be that person. This was the inspiration behind ‘Watch The Moon.’

Andrew Lombardo

In the second grade, an astronaut was a common want.

We fantasized about the dark, cold, and unknown, and would flaunt

That one day we’d train hard and make it into outer space.

Of course, after second grade, anyone who said that was laughed at, in their face

Now, I see movies where space only holds the deadliest of predators.

In a word of aliens, we were taught that that space was never yours

To fantasize about reaching one day. We should stay with gravity,

To say otherwise was to be stating and claiming pure audacity

I want to take an Odyssey to the moon

But I just sound like a ranging pantaloon

I’m not gonna become a Major Tom

My feet will stay planted on the ground

And I’ll watch the moon laying on my back

It’s more realistic to want to live in the sound

Oh, how did you get so far Major Tom?

If only it didn’t cost you your death

If only you could tell me how to stay strong

There’s was more you could do if you had breath

So now we fear the space beyond our parents’ compression.

We halt the rockets that should fly and stop their ascension.

But how many people did we kill, stopping their final destination?

How many people could have benefited from the new creation?

If we fear the unknown, we’ll never go into a world of magic and ice

And if we never go in, we’ll never find a new journey for the spice

That gives so much flavor to those who would otherwise be bland

And maybe it’s that one taste of spice that starts the new big band.

We all want to take an Odyssey to the moon

But we’ll all just sound like a ranging pantaloons

I’m not gonna become a Major Tom

My feet will stay planted on the ground

And I’ll watch the moon laying on my back

It’s more realistic to want to live in the sound

Oh, how did you get so far Major Tom?

If only it didn’t cost you your death

If only you could tell me how to stay strong

There’s was more you could do if you had breath

I know my rocket is waiting

There’s an entire league

But it requires impossible stamina,

And I’ll first feel the fatigue

I want to be known as the man,

Who became the first human to glow

Because even Icarus knew,

That he shouldn’t fly to low

I want to become a Major Tom

I want to become a Major Tom

But

I’m not gonna become a Major Tom

My feet will stay planted on the ground

And I’ll watch the moon laying on my back

It’s more realistic to want to live in the sound

Oh, how did you get so far Major Tom?

If only it didn’t cost you your death

If only you could tell me how to stay strong

There’s was more you could do if you had breath

How did you do it?

How did you do it?

How did you do it?

How did you do it?
