In the heart of Flemington sits a local gem that has been serving up joy in a cone for over 20 years: Thee Ice Cream Parlor. You’ve probably driven past it countless times driving on 202! While previously nestled on South Main Street (now the Flemington Boba House), the new placement provides for ideal visibility and spontaneity (especially if customers are popping in from another favorite dessert spot, the Fudge Shoppe). Thee Ice Cream Parlor is a retro 50’s themed ice cream shop with a cute checkered exterior serving over 80 unique, homemade flavors, including seasonal options. The parlor was originally opened by longtime Flemington residents and today remains in the hands of the same family, who continue to pour love and creativity into every scoop.
This time of year, fall is in full swing at the store. The seasonal lineup includes all the typical cozy flavors like Pumpkin and Apple Pie, which taste like autumn embodied in a sweet treat. The Pumpkin is a classic smooth hardserve, while the Apple Pie includes real pieces of apple and a warm abundance of cinnamon. If autumnal flavors aren’t your thing, don’t worry. The parlor still serves some year round favorites including Chocolate Hazelnut and Moose Tracks for those who like a bit more consistency.
But the equinox-festivities are just the beginning. True to its retro spirit, Thee Ice Cream Parlor is known for its impressively large menu, which includes a variety of hard ice cream, soft serve, sundaes, milkshakes, flotes, italian ice, and more. They even serve a classic 50’s banana split – a rarity at most modern ice cream shops. With 80+ flavors, there’s truly something for everyone. Whether you’re a classic vanilla person or looking for something fun and inventive, Thee Ice Cream Parlor has something you’ll love!
Once you pick your flavor, you can pick from a selection of outdoor seating, including both tables and benches. Unfortunately, the 50s themed indoor seating is no longer open to the public, but the outdoor space is still a great spot to gather and enjoy a crisp fall day.
Thee Ice Cream Parlor might not be the first place you think of when it comes to local hangouts, but with its large, affordable selection and comfy outdoor seating, this is the perfect spot to enjoy a fall day.
